Still giddy with excitement, Simon Payne’s 18 stableford points was enough to see him victorious in the weekly social which will now see him playing off a + 3 handicap in the 9 hole format, all but sealing his fate for any future wins one would think.
Starting from the 10th hole, Payne played Par golf until two wonderful iron shots on holes 16 and 17 lead to birdies and after safely navigating the last for a Par a very unsuspecting Victory was his.
The Pin shot was on the 12th hole this week around and is always a tough one to gauge the wind and the pin placement due to some subtle elevation changes leading up to the green.
That being said, Jihad Azzam found the putting surface with his tee shot and despite being a substantial distance from the hole was good enough to claim the prize.
The Pot continues to grow as rapidly as the rough in the Longest Putt and Chip events with some very good efforts witnessed, but all of them unfortunately lacked the conviction needed to get that ball into the cup.
The Blind Pairs draw was won by Simon Payne and Patricia Mottershead on a combined tally of 35 points which provided them with a few more beverage vouchers for their post round celebrations.
