Steve Kelly and Manilyn Buxmann have had their exceptional play rewarded by being crowned the Club Champions in their respective categories for 2016.
For Kelly who has only recently joined the Club, the victory was one the very nearly slipped through his fingers as he had to endure a play off for the Title despite taking a 4 shot lead into the second round.
The second round was a nail biting experience all the way to the final hole, as with 9 holes to play Johan reached to within 1 stroke of Kelly’s lead and once the final putt was struck on the 18th, it was a tied match.
Kelly prevailed at the first extra hole over Johan Buxmann who was looking to match his wife’s feat in the ladies Division, but unfortunately an errant drive sealed his fate to gift Kelly the victory in his first official outing at the Club.
In the Ladies Division, Manilyn was afforded a little more breathing space as she was victorious by 9 strokes over former Champion Yuki Pellerine. Manilyn slept on a 2 shot leader over Pellerine and rapidly increased her lead by 6 shots after the opening two holes.
Fortunately for Manilyn that is as close as Yuki ever came, as her lead continued to extend until the completion of the match and her defining moment to be crowned the Ladies Club Champion for 2016.
