Biddlecombe & Payne are No Turkey’s

David Biddlecombe & Simon Payne combined splendidly to claim the End of Season 18 hole Floodlit Turkey Shoot with a scintillating score of 67.6 net. Starting from the treacherous 13th hole was always going to test the boys as not only is the fairway narrower than a match box, the format was greensomes, which is tough no matter what your standard is.

As expected, their first score recorded was an unsightly double bogey 7, which was quickly followed by another bogey on the short Par 3, 16th. Fortunately for the pair, they settled down into their routine after a flying visit from the refreshment administrator, and promptly set about making up for their sloppy start.

George Llewellyn and Justin Clarke finished in second place courtesy of their fine score of 69 net. The gents were literally setting the course alight and at one point Justin had his name on 6 out of 7 of the pin prizes on offer. Like the winning pair, Justin and George got off to a shocker, making double on their very first hole, the Par 4, 17th.

This however only angered the inner beast in Clarke, as they then reeled of 4 consecutive birdies, with another coming 4 holes later, that being the Par 3, 16th and their 9th of the night. Despite their plethora of birdies on the night, they fell slightly short, but ensured that their playing partners witnessed a somewhat golfing master class performance.

Third place on the evening went to Johan & Manilyn Buxmann who were cruising to an almost certain victory, until they hit the infamous Par 5, 13th hole, their 10th of the night. The greensomes format was once again the deciding factor that derailed their title hopes, but in true form they put the hiccup to the back of their mind and finished strongly for a score of 69.2 net.
