Steve hit the Strip as Farrington finds Form

Steve Kelly posted a gross of 77 to claim victory in the March Monthly Challenge by a narrow 1 stroke margin over Mizu, with a further 3 shots back to third place getter Mr. J.I. Park. Kelly started his round in indifferent fashion, dropping 3 shots to par over his opening 3 holes but managed to navigate to the turn with only 1 more additional bogey on his card.

The inward nine started in better fashion as he crafted a birdie on the 10th hole only to give it back on hole 15 after a sloppy chip after missing the green with his approach. Two more par’s were to follow with only the 18th to play, which despite an unsightly bogey was enough to see him to victory.

In the Net Division Graham Farrington just got the wood over Jihad Azzam in the count back as both chaps scored brilliant 67’s, 5 under par. Fortunately for Farrington, his net birdie on the 18th hole was the defining moment in his victory and in sealing the fate of Azzam.

In fairness, Farrington’s victory should have been a walk in the park had it not been for an adventurous triple bogey on the 160 yard Par 3, 8th hole, as up until that stage it had been smooth sailing for the former 15 marker. Rounding out the top 3 on another subpar score of 69 was Gerry Gibson whom is definitely seeing the rewards for arduous practice regime.
