Starting the new Golfing Season with a bang was Mohamed Abdel Fattah (Mizu) and Ajay Kotwal who were both triumphant in the September Monthly Challenge.
Mizu was triumphant in the Gross Division with 78 blows while Ajay Kotwal claimed the Net Prize and the Luckiest Ball Prize for his net score of 71.
An indifferent start to the outward nine from Mizu was softened somewhat by the two birdies he finished with on holes 8 & 9, which made his score of 40 easier to swallow as he headed onto the shorter inward nine.
Starting the inward nine with a bogey was not what he was looking for but with the rest of the field struggling he knew if he kept the ball on the short grass then he was a good chance of waking away victorious.
Mizu played holes 11 through to 15 without dropping a shot and quickly capitalised on his approach to 12ft on the Par 3, 16th hole to make his first birdie on the inward nine.
Unfortunately the ecstasy of that birdie was short lived as he played his bogeyed his remaining 2 holes to come home in 38 strokes which was still good enough for the victory.
The Net Division and Luckiest Ball Winner has seen Ajay Kotwal rewarded for his consistent play as his net score of 1 under Par, 71 sneak across the Line for the Title.
Ajay played 2 very consistent loops, with the worst score on his card being a double bogey after getting into some strife on the Par 4, 3rd hole.
This hiccup was short lived with Ajay bouncing back with a birdie at the Par 3, 4th hole after he struck his approach to a mere 8 ft.
Ajay was a model of consistency from that point on as he made run at the Title that affords the Winner the chance to play alongside the Stars of the European Tour at the season ending Dubai World Championship Pro – Am if successful in the Qualifier.
Entering the inward nine Kotwal’s mantra was fairways and greens, and he lived up to his expectations, eventually signing of for a gross score of 79, equating to a net of 71 and the Win once his handicap had been deducted.
Minor Places in the Event went to the following players,
2nd Place – Fady Azzam – 79 gross
3rd Place – Doctor Jey – 84 gross
2nd Place – Paul Harrison – 72 net
3rd Place – Hanif Ibrahim – 76 net
