Bewailing Bickell & Perfect Pat Claim November Challenge

Cavan Bickell seemingly had nothing to carp about yesterday as he produced one of his best ever golfing performances on the perfectly manicured Links to claim the Gross Title in the November Challenge.

Bickell whistled around the course in 81 strokes despite the blustery conditions with the only low point of his round coming on the treacherous 6th hole, where he failed to carry the lake with his drive resulting in an unsightly triple bogey 7.

Claiming second and third place in the gross division was the husband and wife pairing of Johan & Manilyn Buxmann, with Johan gaining bragging rights and getting himself out of doing the dishes for the next week as his gross of 82 bettered Manilyn by 1 stroke.

The big news on the day however was Pat Mottershead’s unbelievable Net Score of 61, 11 under par, claiming the Title by 7 strokes. Pat has been struggling with her game of late, especially her putting, but she had obviously shrugged off that scar tissue as by her own omission, “they went in from everywhere”

Wilma Fernandes continues her rapid progression in the sport as she once again posted a score under par to claim second place with 68 net. Wilma’s last two Challenge outings have been so fruitful it has given her a 150 point lead in the Net Order of Merit, but if she keeps up this pace up, it will be daylight second by season’s end.

Third place in the Net Division was awarded to Lanka Uduwata who goes about his business week in week out with the minimum of fuss. Lanka was again a model of consistency and may have pushed Wilma for second place if not for a couple of lack luster drives that the placed him on the back foot.

Lanka did however have something to smile about as he walked away with the pin prize on the 8th hole, with Jihad Azzam continuing his dominance of the par 3, 16th.
