Biddlecombe & Payne Master the Madness

David Biddlecombe & Simon Payne defeated a strong field to claim the 2016 Masters Midnight Madness on the Tower Links Floodlit back nine.

With 36 players teeing of in the 18 hole event where they played 2 loops of the back nine, defending Champions Manilyn and Johan Buxmann who were also favored to defend their title unfortunately struggled on the greens leaving the door a jar for the rest of the field.

Biddlecombe and Payne started their chase for glory in style, with a birdie 3 at their first hole doing wonders to calm the nerves, but had to wait until their 7th hole of the night before they could improve on their tally with another birdie on the Par 3 after sinking from 25 ft.

The second nine holes proved the catalyst for their win as they managed to pull 7 birdies in an 8 hole stretch, with 6 of them coming in a row, thanks in part to many a putt finding the bottom of the hole despite their lack luster approaches and a very welcoming ricochet of a palm tree on their second to last hole.

Placing second on the night were Mike Sherman & Ahmad Mustapha, who despite scoring two gross bogeys, which generally seals your demise in a Scramble, managed to hold it together to walk away in style. The pair opened their first 9 holes with a 1 over total of 37, but found the going a little easier the second time around which was reflected in their score of 34, 2 under par.

In the non handicap section, Joe Wivou and Simon Williams stole the show with a fantastic score of 67, leaving Miller Green and Any Lewis to claim the second place prize with a another subpar score of 70.
